In a heartfelt Instagram message, Tanaka expressed, “To all our supporters and fans, it’s with a mix of feelings that I announce my friendly parting from Mariah Carey after an amazing decade together.” He continued, highlighting the mutual nature of their decision, emphasizing their deep respect for one another. “The moments we’ve shared and the creative projects we’ve undertaken will always hold a special place in my heart,” he added.
Tanaka also commended Carey, particularly noting her dedication to her loved ones and her unmatched professionalism. Additionally, he extended his gratitude to Carey’s children, acknowledging their warmth and generosity.

While Tanaka shared the news of their separation, he chose not to delve into specific reasons behind their decision in his online statement.
“At this delicate juncture, I sincerely request your understanding, privacy, and consideration,” Tanaka expressed. “The overwhelming love and backing from supporters have truly bolstered me, and I deeply appreciate the ongoing encouragement. Looking ahead, I remain enthusiastic about pursuing my passions in dance, inspiration, and the arts, confident that they will shine brightly in the chapters to come.”

Tanaka and Carey crossed paths when he joined her on the 2006 The Adventures of Mimi tour as a backup dancer. Carey publicly acknowledged their relationship during a 2017 interview with The Associated Press.
She remarked with a smile, “I’ve always leaned towards keeping my personal life private. There was a time when that approach served me well.” She continued, “Discussing my personal life doesn’t sit right with me… My partner and I prefer to maintain that privacy.”
Tanaka expressed his admiration for Carey with a heartfelt Instagram post commemorating her 54th birthday in March.
“Among my cherished memories, this stands out. Happy Anniversary to my Beautiful Queen. 🦋3/27🦋❤️,” Tanaka captioned a black-and-white snapshot featuring the duo.

Prior to her relationship with Tanaka, Carey was engaged to Australian mogul James Packer, with their engagement concluding in 2016.

The renowned singer of “Vision of Love” tied the knot with music executive Tommy Mottola in 1993, but they parted ways in 1998. Subsequently, in 2008, she exchanged vows with comedian Nick Cannon. Together, they are parents to twins and decided to separate in 2014.
“In all honesty, I’ve only had relationships with five individuals in my life, which might seem conservative compared to many in this industry,” Carey shared with Cosmopolitan regarding her romantic experiences in July 2019. “While the number might not be extensive, there’s been diversity in those connections.”
