Over two decades since the stop-motion movie “Chicken Run” made its debut, the sequel, “Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget,” is set to reintroduce some of the original chickens, alongside new characters and a fresh setting, marking a revival of the series in 2023.
While the initial movie was produced by DreamWorks Animation, the 2023 sequel, “Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget,” was produced by Aardman Animations and Netflix Animation.
Helmed by director Sam Fell, the storyline of “Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget” unfolds with Ginger, voiced by Thandiwe Newton, leading a tranquil life alongside others at an island sanctuary after their escape from the egg farm in the original movie. However, the peace is soon disrupted.
The film summary from Netflix states, “Back on the mainland, the entire chicken community encounters a new and formidable threat. For Ginger and her team, even if it means jeopardizing their own hard-earned freedom, this time, they’re breaking in!”
