During a recent interview with Access Hollywood at the Fenty x Puma Creeper Phatty launch event in Los Angeles, the pop icon discussed witnessing her rapper partner embrace fatherhood. Rihanna and A$AP Rocky (birth name: Rakim Athelaston Mayers) are parents to RZA Athelston Mayers, aged 1, and Riot Rose, who is four months old.
The singer of “Lift Me Up” expressed that starting a family has surpassed all her anticipations about motherhood.
“You can never truly anticipate; you can only wish,” Rihanna shared with Access Hollywood’s Scott Evans. “My aspiration was always to become a mother with love, to be part of a family that breaks old patterns, progresses, and raises our children even better than how we were raised.”
Rihanna’s Admiration for A$AP Rocky’s Parenting
Rihanna commended A$AP Rocky for his exemplary role as a father, expressing deep admiration for his bond with their children.
“The way he is as a dad resonates differently with me. It’s incredibly attractive,” Rihanna commented. “His leadership, patience, and love shine through. My kids are truly fond of him. Sometimes, I feel like I’m just in the backdrop. That’s just how it is… Whether it’s a daughter or son, the bond with their dad is unique, and I genuinely cherish witnessing it.”
Rihanna announced her pregnancy with her son, Riot Rose, during her Super Bowl Halftime show performance in February. Yet, the singer of “Love on the Brain” playfully mentioned that being a mom to a daughter is still on her parental wish list.
“As of now, I have daughters,” Rihanna shared with E! News at the Fenty x Puma gathering when questioned about what’s yet to come in her life. “I’m hoping for a 25% chance of having a boy next. So, we’re keeping our hopes up.”
she reflected. “While I cherish being a ‘girl mom,’ there’s always that curiosity and excitement about what it would be like to raise a boy. Regardless of gender, my priority remains the same: to provide love, guidance, and a nurturing environment for all my children.”
Rihanna further added, “Motherhood has been a transformative journey for me. It’s not just about bringing a new life into the world but also about shaping and molding them into compassionate, responsible individuals. With every passing day, I feel more blessed and motivated to give my best to my kids.”
As for balancing her career and family life, the multi-talented artist acknowledged the challenges but emphasized the importance of prioritizing. “It’s all about finding that balance,” she said. “Music and performing will always be a significant part of who I am, but my children are my heart and soul. I want to set an example for them, showing that with passion, dedication, and love, you can achieve anything you set your mind to.”
